Is it normal for my pupils to be different sizes?

Approximately 12% of the population has unequal pupils. If your pupils have been this way for a long time, it is probably safe to ignore, but always let any new physician examining you know in advance. If you carry a medical alert such as for diabetes or allergies, then include anisocoria (the medical term for unequal pupils) on the card, bracelet, or dog tag. If this is a new finding, have it evaluated by an ophthalmologist, as serious medical and neurological sometimes begin with this as an early sign.
