How is thermotherapy used to treat retinoblastoma?

Thermotherapy resembles laser therapy. It uses a weak form of radiation - microwave, infrared, or ultrasound - to attack cancer cells through heat. Thermotherapy is thus useful only for smaller tumors, but it is also less likely to cause side effects. Thermotherapy is often given shortly after chemotherapy.
