How is an MRI used to diagnose retinoblastoma?

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can be useful in detecting the spread of cancer from the eye to the brain. Sometimes doctors will continue to use MRI scans after the treatment of retinoblastoma to make sure that the cancer is not spreading. MRI uses magnets and radio waves to collect images of body tissues. The data it produces are analyzed by computer to produce high-resolution images of the body. An MRI can take a long time and requires enclosure in a tube.
