Is exercise important for bone health?

Exercise is very important to bone health. Weight-bearing exercise can build bone, keep bones strong, and help stop bone loss. Examples of weight-bearing exercise include walking, running, jumping rope, and playing basketball or soccer. Adults should aim for at least half an hour of some kind of exercise most days of the week.
