How long does it take to recover from ethanol poisoning?

In general, it takes the liver about one hour to metabolize one serving worth of alcohol. This time may be impacted by the person's overall health, age, genetics, diet, and the types and amount of alcohol consumed. A person normally recovers from alcohol poisoning within 24 hours, but depending upon the severity of the intoxication, there may be long-term effects. Intravenous fluids and other supportive therapies may speed recovery of secondary symptoms, such as dehydration and fatigue.
