Who should take estradiol?

Estradiol should be taken by women wanting to control symptoms of menopause such as hot flashes, vaginal irritation, dryness or burning. It is used to treat vaginal or vulval atrophy. It is also useful in preventing osteoporosis. Estradiol also may help treat prostate cancer. This drug can be used as a replacement for estrogen in response to failure of the ovaries or removal of uterus.
