Where does estrogen come from?

The sex hormones estrogen and progesterone are produced by a ruptured egg follicle after it releases its ripe egg (ovulation).  This occurs through stimulation by luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) made by the pituitary gland.  Watch the animation to learn more about estrogen.
