What side effects of estrogen should I report to my doctor?

If you develop any of the following side effects while using a medication containing estrogen, tell your doctor right away:
  • bulging eyes
  • signs of infection such as sore throat, fever, chills or cough
  • stomach pain, swelling or tenderness
  • loss of appetite
  • muscle weakness or poor muscle control
  • yellowed skin or eyes
  • joint pain
  • skin problems such as rash, blisters, hives or itching
  • swollen eyes, face, tongue, throat, hands, arms, feet, ankles or lower legs
  • hoarseness
  • difficulty breathing or swallowing
