Some eye issues can occur after menopause, including clouding from cataracts and macular degeneration. This deterioration in vision can occur with the loss of estrogen as women age. Cataracts, or the clouding of the lens of the eye, can occur with older women. It is important to have routine eye exams to test for macular degeneration, which is when a tiny spot on the retina can become scarred.
