Are prescription medications available for an essential tremor?

Mild essential tremor does not usually require medical treatment. Lifestyle changes work well to relieve some of the symptoms of your tremor. More severe essential tremors, however, can respond to prescription medications. Two of the most common medicines are primidone (an anti-seizure drug) and propranolol (a beta-blocker). Any medicine has side effects, so speak with your doctor to make sure your treatment works for you.
