What are some complications of erectile dysfunction?

Many of the complications of erectile dysfunction are emotional or psychological. Obviously, if you have trouble getting or maintaining an erection that allows you to have sex, your sex life may suffer. This problem may lead to low self-esteem, or stress and anxiety if you're anticipating having erection problems every time you attempt to have sex. Eventually, erectile dysfunction can lead to problems in your relationship, if there's misunderstanding or feelings of guilt or resentment between partners. To reduce the risk of these psychological complications, make sure to maintain open communication with your partner, and see a counselor or therapist if your stress and anxiety are interfering with your daily life.

The most obvious complication that accompanies erectile dysfunction, or ED, is that your sex life is bound to become a lot less fun and rewarding. But from that problem, others are likely to arise.
  • If you want to become a father, you may be unable to impregnate your partner.
  • Your relationship your romantic partner may become strained.
  • Your self esteem may plummet.
  • You may feel depressed or anxious.
You could say that the most common complication of erectile dysfunction is that it makes life, well, complicated. But that doesn't have to be true. See your doctor and have a frank conversation about the problem. He or she can offer treatments that can uncomplicate your life.
Men with erectile dysfunction (ED) may have various complications, some serious, including:
  • Marital discord
  • Relationship problems or break-ups
  • No sexual relationships
  • An unsatisfactory sex life
  • Added emotional stress or anxiety
  • Low self-worth
  • Inability to conceive a child naturally with sexual intercourse.
Erectile dysfunction may also be related to serious health complications such as heart disease and high blood pressure.
