You should not take rasburicase (brand name Elitek), a medication used to treat high levels of uric acid, if any of the following apply to you:
  • You have had a severe allergic reaction to Elitek or to ingredients used in Elitek.
  • You have previously responded to Elitek with a blood cell reaction called hemolytic anemia or methemoglobinemia.
  • You have a genetic disorder called glucose-6-phosphatase dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency.
