What are the side effects of Elitek?

Elitek is administered by injection in the hospital under the care of a health care professional, so your doctor should be available when you are receiving the drug. Elitek is the brand name for the generic medication rasburicase. Elitek can cause minor side effects that do not require immediate medical attention. You may experience stomach problems (diarrhea, constipation, nausea, vomiting or pain) or sores in your mouth. Some people report a rash. If you experience any of the following side effects, however, contact your doctor immediately: chest pain, breathing problems, weakness or dizziness, dark urine, gray or blue skin or yellow skin or eyes. If you have an allergic reaction, you might exhibit symptoms like chest tightness, facial swelling, hives or itching. Contact your doctor immediately if you think you are having an allergic reaction to Elitek.
