What should I know about Creon 20 before taking it?

Before taking Creon 20, you should know it is made from the pancreas of a pig. If you are allergic to pork proteins, you should not use Creon. This medication is not safe to use if you have certain medical conditions, such as gout, high levels of uric acid in the blood or urine, a history or current occurrence of intestinal blockage, kidney disease and inflammation of the pancreas. You will need to take Creon regularly, every day, as directed by your doctor to receive the most benefit from this medication. You should swallow the capsules whole with food or immediately before meals. You should not crush the capsules, breathe in the powder contained in the Creon capsule or allow the powder to touch your skin. Inhaling the powder can cause a stuffy nose, difficulty breathing, shortness of breath and chest pain.
