If you have stage 4 uterine cancer, your doctor will recommend a hysterectomy, or surgical removal of the uterus. The fallopian tubes, ovaries, and nearby lymph nodes will likely be removed during this operation as well. With stage 4 cancer, your doctor will recommend additional treatment after surgery to prevent the cancer's return. Radiation therapy uses x-rays to kill cancer cells. The x-rays can be administered from either inside or outside of the body. Chemotherapy, which is the use of medication to treat cancer, may also be used. This medication can be taken orally or injected.
