How can I reduce complications after dental root amputation?

Having a root amputation is like have a tooth extracted. I recommend to not smoke, spit or rinse, or have hot and spicy foods for one day after the procedure. Until the tooth is protected with a crown, I would also avoid eating hard foods (pretzels, hard candy, chewing on ice, etc.).
