What are the symptoms of a parathyroid problem?

Joane Goodroe

Most people think of parathyroid symptoms as kidney stones, osteoporosis and aches and pains. There are many other critical symptoms that affect these patients and diagnosis is often missed.

Some additional symptoms include ones that affect your brain, your nervous system, your bones, your muscles (including your heart), your kidneys, and your intestinal function.

A few examples of problems that a tumor of the parathyroid can cause include uncontrolled hypertension, spasm of the veins and arteries (even in your heart), heart racing, depression, dehydration, and many others.
