Is toxic goiter serious?

Toxic goiter is not always serious, but it can sometimes lead to serious complications. If your thyroid function is too fast, your heart rate, metabolism, and other bodily functions can be affected. In extreme cases, toxic goiter can lead to heart problems or a condition called thyrotoxic crisis, in which you could develop a fever and feel delirious. However, these complications are all treatable, so be sure to tell your doctor if your toxic goiter symptoms intensify.
