How do other illnesses affect pheochromocytoma?

There are several illnesses and conditions that researchers believe increase your chances of developing pheochromocytoma. These genetic diseases include multiple endocrine neoplasia, von Hippel-Lindau disease, and neurofibromatosis. Additionally, because pheochromocytoma causes irregular blood pressure, several diseases can result. Persons with irregular blood pressure can suffer permanent heart damage or organ malfunction and develop diabetes.
