Does pheochromocytoma run in families?

While pheochromocytoma does not run in families, it can be caused by some genetic diseases that do run in families. About 10 percent of pheochromocytoma cases are due to family history or genetic conditions. The genetic conditions that can cause pheochromocytoma include multiple endocrine neoplasia, von Hippel-Lindau disease, and neurofibromatosis.
