What do I need to know about caring for someone with diffuse goiter?

Be sure someone with diffuse goiter is taking any medications as recommended by his or her doctor. Watch for worsening symptoms such as difficulty breathing or swallowing, and tell a doctor immediately in the cases these arise. Also be sure the person is not experiencing discomfort from less-severe symptoms of diffuse goiter, such as bulging eyes. You may want to offer the person eye drops or a wet cloth.
