Can I develop more than one pheochromocytoma?

You can develop more than one pheochromocytoma. Usually, an individual only develops one pheochromocytoma, but it is possible to develop multiple tumors in one adrenal gland or on both glands. It is also possible to develop pheochromocytomas on chromaffin cells outside of the adrenal glands. These are called paragangliomas. Paragangliomas are more prone to developing into cancer than are adrenal pheochromocytomas.
