Endocrine system diseases can occur when something goes wrong with one of the many glands of the endocrine system. Tumors, illness, and congenital defects can all cause endocrine system diseases. Endocrine system diseases often occur as an autoimmune reaction, when your body's immune system attacks the gland and damages its ability to produce hormones.
