Cancer can cause endocrine system diseases by damaging one of the many glands and organs that make up the endocrine system. This can occur whether or not the cancer directly affects the organ or gland. Sometimes, cancer cells can produce hormones of their own that damage glands and organs in the endocrine system, impairing their ability to function and leading to endocrine system disease.
