What are the side effects of ganirelix?

Some of the side effects that occur with this medication include:

  • severe pelvic pain; stomach trouble, nausea, and vomiting; trouble urinating; rapid weight gain or swelling;
  • cramps that feel like menstrual cramps; vaginal bleeding; and pain or irritation at the injection site.

A serious side effect of ganirelix can be ovarian hyper-stimulation syndrome (OHSS). This can be a fatal condition. For this reason, it is important that you are seeing your physician regularly while taking this medication. If you are experiencing any adverse reactions or side effects, contact your physician immediately. If you have an allergic reaction such as swelling, trouble breathing, or hives, contact emergency services immediately to seek treatment.
