How does emotional health affect the body?


While the relationship between emotional health and physical health is not entirely concrete, a correlation does exist. Negative emotions to the extreme often result in emotional disturbance including anxiety disorders, abuse, and depression. Individuals with clinical depression often also exhibit physical symptoms including loss of sleep and appetite. Eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia often also have emotional causes. Emotional intelligence and regulation can help individuals to better cope with physical ailments and to prevent some types of depression.
