How can I recognize viral ear infections in infants?

Before they can speak, there are other ways babies communicate that they have an ear infection. Look for signs such as excessive crying or trouble sleeping. Another telltale clue is if the baby begins tugging on one ear all of a sudden. If the baby is less aware of sounds around it, that may also be a sign of blockage in the ear caused by an infection.
