Radiation treatment for acoustic neuromas is very effective. Studies show long-term "tumor control" in over 90% of cases. Tumor control means that the tumor either stopped growing or began to grow at a slower rate. Sometimes, the tumor even gets smaller. Radiation also provides a 50% - 70% chance of preventing total hearing loss.
