How do medications treat cholesteatoma?

Contrary to popular belief, medications cannot treat cholesteatoma. Although the disease is associated with chronic ear infection, it is not an ear infection, so antibiotics cannot help treat the disease. Instead, surgery is necessary to remove the cyst caused by cholesteatoma.
