How common are acoustic neuromas?

Studies done in Denmark and published in 2004 show that two people in every 100,000 have an acoustic neuroma. Most of them are found in people age 30-60. Recent studies show a rise in the frequency of acoustic neuromas. This may be the result of improvements in MRI scanning technology.
