Is inner ear decompression sickness life-threatening?

Inner ear decompression sickness (IEDCS) is not life-threatening by itself, but it is still a serious condition. Left untreated, IEDCS can cause permanent damage to the inner ear and hearing impairment. IEDCS is also usually accompanied by another form of decompression sickness, which can be fatal.
