Is there a cure for middle ear infections?

Ear infections may be caused by a virus (the common cold) or by bacteria. There is no cure, and no vaccine, for the common cold. Ear infections caused by viruses will often go away on their own. Ear infections caused by bacteria may be successfully treated with antibiotics (possibly along with corticosteroids), and, in some cases, surgery.
