Can inner ear decompression sickness be prevented?

For the most part, inner ear decompression sickness (IEDCS) can be avoided by using proper decompression techniques. Limiting the dive to shallow depths, well short of 100 feet, is another effective preventative measure. Breathing a nitrogen-oxygen mixture rather than a helium-oxygen mixture also seems to reduce the risk of contracting IEDCS.
