In some cases, those who have had cholesteatoma removed through surgery may experience a re-growth. If this occurs, the cyst must, once again, be removed through surgery. If the cyst is not removed, it will continue to grow and the cholesteatoma patient will eventually suffer from deafness or hearing loss.
