How long do dry eyes last?

Dry eyes are often a chronic condition because once tear production is insufficient, it may never return to normal. The symptoms of dry eyes can generally be managed, though, through medicated eye drops and proper eye care. In some cases, such as when dry eyes develop after LASIK surgery, the effects can be temporary and the eyes can return to normal production of tears.
