What are possible side effects of Microzide?

Microzide (hydrochlorothiazide), a diuretic prescribed to treat high blood pressure and fluid retention, can have a number of side effects. They include:
  • diarrhea
  • thirst
  • stomach pain
  • nausea or vomiting
  • loss of appetite
  • muscle weakness
  • dizziness
  • headache
  • hair loss
If any of these problems bothers you or doesn't go away, call your doctor. Microzide can cause more serious side effects, as well. Call your doctor immediately if you have:
  • a sore throat with a fever
  • unusual bleeding or bruising
  • a severe skin rash with peeling skin
  • difficulty swallowing
If you are having trouble breathing, get emergency medical help immediately.
