Common side effects of amiloride-hydrochlorothiazide include stomach upset, changes in blood sugar levels, sensitivity to light, and salivary gland inflammation. You may also experience loss of appetite, dizziness, constipation, headaches, nausea, stomach pain, weakness, or fatigue. If these side effects don't go away or get worse, contact your doctor.

Also let your doctor know right away if you experience any of the following side effects, as they may be signs of a medical emergency: signs of an allergic reaction such as hives or an itchy rash, swelling around the mouth or face, or chest tightness and difficulty breathing; dryness in the mouth or unquenchable thirst; impotence; muscle cramps; stomach pain and vomiting; confusion; an irregular or weak heartbeat; urination problems, or yellowing of the skin or eyes.
