Mannitol injection in Viaflex container (Osmitrol) is not known to interact with food. However, mannitol can increase the urinary excretion of lithium, salicylates (like aspirin and salsalate), barbiturates (like phenobabital) and potassium. Taking other diuretics at the same time may cause excessive urination.
The Viaflex container is a patented, flexible, PVC with DEHP, non-latex plastic bag for administering intravenous drugs (including mannitol) and fluids.
