What should I know about metolazone before taking it?

If you have impaired liver function, metolazone may cause hepatic coma.

If you are allergic to sulfa drugs, metolazone may not be a good option for you.

If you are pregnant, you should not take metolazone during the first trimester. It is not known if it is safe for pregnant women later in pregnancy.

You should not take metolazone if you are breastfeeding.

If you have gout or severe kidney disease, metolazone may not be a good option for you.
