Is there a generic version of hydrochlorothiazide?

Yes, hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) is the name of the active ingredient and the name of the generic versions of the drug that used to be sold under the brand names Hydrodiuril, Esidrix and Oretic. These brands are no longer available in the US. However, the 12.5 mg. strength is still available as Microzide in addition to the generic versions.
