What should I avoid while taking oretic?

If you take oretic (hydrochlorothiazide), you should avoid drinking alcohol because it can increase side effects from oretic. You should also avoid taking pain medication, cold medication, muscle relaxers, medication for depression or anxiety, and seizure medicine. These medications can cause you to become lightheaded when used while you are taking oretic. Try to avoid conditions such as dehydration and overheating. While taking oretic, you should limit your salt intake because salt can cause your body to retain more fluids and interfere with the effectiveness of oretic.
