How should I store hydrochlorothiazide?

To properly store hydrochlorothiazide, or HCTZ (Aquazide H, Diaqua, Hydrocot and others), here are some tips:
  • Keep it in its original container.
  • Keep the container tightly closed.
  • Store it out of the reach of children.
  • Store it at room temperature.
  • Keep it away from excess heat, light and moisture.
  • Don’t store it in the bathroom.
  • Don’t freeze it.
  • Throw away medication that has expired or that is no longer needed.
  • Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about proper medication disposal.
