What drugs interact with chlorothiazide?

Diabetics should be aware that insulin may not work as well while they are using chlorothiazide. On the other hand, chlorothiazide may not work as well if used with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or NSAIDs. Narcotic pain relievers, barbiturates, and blood pressure medications can increase chlorothiazide's side effects. Likewise, chlorothiazide can increase the effects of some muscle relaxants and diazoxide. People using lithium may develop lithium toxicity, and those using dofetilide, ketanserin, or digoxin may see changes in their heart rates.
