Does hydrochlorothiazide interact with other medications?

Tell your doctor about any allergy you may have to sulfa medications, in order to prevent allergic reactions to hydrochlorothiazide diuretics. There are several medications that, when taken with a thiazide diuretic, can result in serious side effects. When using hydrochlorothiazide, do not begin a new medication, supplement, vitamin, or herbal treatment without first talking to your doctor. Do not take hydrochlorothiazide if you are currently taking dofetilide.

Other medications can increase the side effects of hydrochlorothiazide, such as constipation/diarrhea and stomach ache. Tell your doctor if you are using any of the following medications: acetyldigoxin, arsenic Trioxide, deslanoside, digitalis, digitoxin, digoxin, droperidol, flecainide, ketanserin, lithium, metildigoxin, ouabain, proscillaridin, sotalol.
