Where in the body is the gallbladder located?

The gallbladder is located under your liver in the upper right side of your abdomen. A small, pear-shaped organ, your gallbladder is part of the biliary system of your body. Your liver produces bile, a fluid that helps break down the food, especially the fat that you eat. Your gallbladder concentrates and stores the bile and then releases the bile into your intestine as needed for digesting your food.
