What causes dyspepsia?

Dyspepsia can be caused by a variety of sources, ranging from diet to stomach-irritating drugs to serious diseases like stomach cancer. Overeating or consuming fatty, spicy, or greasy foods is perhaps the most widespread cause of dyspepsia. Chronic conditions like gastritis, pancreatitis, peptic ulcers, and gallstones are also common causes. Anxiety has been linked to causing dyspepsia or worsening existing symptoms. For some dyspepsia sufferers, no immediate cause can be found. This condition is called functional dyspepsia.
