In March of 2010, some genetic material in both types of the rotavirus vaccine was found to be from pigs, and for this the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recommended that the use of the vaccine be stopped. However, two months later, the FDA recommended that the vaccine be returned to the marketplace because it could find no safety risk with the vaccines. This remains the current stance of the FDA.
