Your doctor will be able to diagnose the severity of your traumatic brain injury by assessing your symptoms and performing a neurological examination, in which your vision, reflexes, and other abilities are tested. They will also look at images of your brain through MRIs or CT scans. Some of the abnormalities seen in diffuse brain injuries, however, are so small and hard to detect that they cannot be seen through brain imaging.
