Who will be involved in my rehabilitation from a diffuse brain injury?

If someone with a diffuse brain injury regains consciousness, recovery from the damage that occurred may require a team of rehabilitation professionals. This team may include:

  • A neuropsychologist to help diagnose any cognitive impairments that have occurred. A neuropsychologist can also help you and your family cope with any emotional and behavioral issues that may have developed.
  • A physical therapist to help you regain any motor skills that were impaired from the injury.
  • A speech therapist to help you improve your cognitive and language skills.
  • An occupational therapist to help you relearn some of the basic skills of daily life, like dressing yourself.
