Who should not use silymarin?

If you take the liver enzyme CYP3A4, you should not take silymarin. People that are allergic to any plants should talk to their doctor before taking silymarin. Women who are pregnant or breast-feeding should also not take silymarin. The effect of silymarin on a developing fetus and a nursing infant is unknown, but there may be a risk.
